Asking Questions

Marge has worked at her job for one year. She has earned one week’s worth of vacation time. She has questions about it. Is it paid or unpaid? Does she get two weeks the next year?

She sees her boss and asks, “Is this a good time to talk?” Her boss replies, “Yes, I have a few minutes. What would you like to talk about?”

Marge says, “I have worked here one year. I would like to use my vacation time. Is my one week of vacation time paid or unpaid? What about next year? Do I get two weeks of vacation time my second year?”

“I’m glad you asked,” said her boss. “I prefer to have my workers ask questions and get correct information. You have one week of paid vacation this year and next year,” he answered.

Marge is glad she asked. Now she can enjoy a week away from work.
