Reading Skills for Today's Adults

Elizabeth wants to help people. She wants to have a better job. She also wants a career.

She calls the local Adult Basic Education (ABE) school. She wants to find a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) class. The school has a meeting every month about the class.

​

In a CNA class, students learn basic medical words. Students have to practice writing. This skill will help them to write reports. The class has students working in teams. These are all important skills to learn.

The ABE school tells students to take reading and writing classes. These classes help to prepare students for the CNA class. Elizabeth thinks this is a good idea. She has not been in school for many years. She will begin reading and writing classes next week.

The CNA class will begin in three months. Elizabeth is happy. She is excited to begin a new career in healthcare.
