Fingerprints on the Wall

Fingerprints on the wall, on the door and in the hall.

Made by a little boy’s hands, so busy and so small.

He works real hard, soon his prints are everywhere, On his face, on his clothes, and even in his hair.

He smiles at me. His eyes sparkle in the light.
“I made for you a picture,” he says with great delight.

He shyly takes my hand, and shows me all he’s done. We smile at each other. We are both having fun.

Then we wash our hands. The pictures they will stay. There will be time to wash the walls on another day.
