Reading Skills for Today's Adults

Fran and her kids liked to watch things grow. They loved to be out in the garden. They got ready for planting at the end of May. First, they removed the leaves and twigs that had fallen on the garden. Then they tilled the soil. It was good to churn the dirt. Next, they made ​rows​​ with a hoe.

They were now ready to start planting. Fran had bought five packs of seeds. They planted a row of carrots. They planted a row of sweet corn. They planted a row of peas. They planted a row of green peppers. They planted a row of lettuce.

Fran wanted the garden to get a good start. She watered the seeds well. Next, she got a wire fence. She put the fence around the garden. Without the fence, Fran and her kids would not have much produce. The rabbits would have a great feast!
